Misinformation is nothing new in the internet age. Still, when government organizations (FDA) put in place to protect consumer health actively engage in downplaying the harm that tobacco has done and try to create a sour narrative for less harmful non-tobacco products, there is clearly a problem.

The fact is that over 480,000 lives are lost each year due to cigarette smoking which means that about 1 in five deaths can be attributed to tobacco. Is this a fact that the FDA doesn’t want to address? Yes, it is because, as most vapers know, the FDA has been on a witchhunt to spread a false narrative that vaping is just as or even more harmful than smoking, which doesn’t add up. Consider this: all cigarettes you see on the shelves of your convenience store, liquor store, and/or tobacco shop are, believe it or not, FDA-approved for sale and consumption. With well over 7,000 chemical additives in a single cigarette, it’s safe to say that those organizations that are meant to advise and govern the general health of the public are on the payroll of big tobacco, which happily provides a wealth of talking points to downplay the harm reduction movement that is vaping.
With millions of applications for market approval still untouched by the FDA’s “review board,” it has become clear that the application process for vape manufacturers is nothing more than a stalling tactic. At the same time, companies like JUUL are being skewered both in media reporting and with financial settlements and lawsuits that are bound to bankrupt the company sending a message of fear to other vape brands. (FYI: some of the scorn JUUL Labs has received is well deserved based on their initial marketing campaigns.)
There is no denying that smoking causes cancer, plain and simple. What is concerning is that vaping has proven time and time again to help smokers kick cigarettes and live healthier lives. That’s not to say that there are no pitfalls with vape products, as most, if not all, vaping devices contain nicotine which is indeed an addictive chemical.
